Applications Sought for Psi Beta Events at the Western Psychological Association Convention

Psi Beta will be hosting a poster session for Psi Beta students at the Western Psychological Association (WPA) Annual Convention scheduled for April 24th to 27th, 2014.  The convention will be held at the Portland Marriott Downtown with the poster session likely occurring on Friday morning and the Psi Beta Chapter Exchange and Speed Research Competition occurring on Saturday afternoon (days/times subject to change).

Students interested in presenting their research at the Psi Beta poster session should contact Kris Leppien-Christensen at to request an application.  Applications are due by Friday, January 10th, 2014.  Applications received prior to this date will ensure that the students’ information appears in the official convention program.  Late submissions will be accepted on a space-available basis, but will not appear in the convention program.

Students are also invited to present their research to fellow Psi Beta students and their advisors during the Psi Beta Chapter Exchange.  During this event, students will be invited to engage in a speed research competition where they will have three minutes and one PowerPoint slide to present their research.  In preparing for their presentations, students should plan on presenting their research as if they were presenting it to a novice.  This is a great opportunity for students to practice their presentation skills and to provide other students with insights on the type of research that is being completed by other community college students.  Students interested in presenting their research during the chapter exchange should contact Kris Leppien-Christensen by Friday, April 18th, 2014.  Additional presentations will be permitted on the day of the event on a space-available basis.
