Chapter Update: Queensborough Community College in Bayside

At Queensborough Community College in Bayside, NY, 35 students were inducted into Psi Beta in the Fall 2018 semester.  The students are majoring in liberal arts along with nursing and business. The department chair, Dr. Joseph Culkin, attended the event and distributed the certificates and pins to the inductees.  A light lunch was served afterward.

In October, Psi Beta students met to discuss a recent article published in the APS Observer titled, “The Many Shapes of Applied Psychological Science”.  The article mentioned the interesting career paths of several psychologists.   Like those mentioned in the article, students were encouraged to think broadly by Drs. Rommel Robertson and Jeffery Jankowski, faculty advisors, when considering careers in psychology.

At the end of the Fall semester, four recent Psi Beta inductees participated at an Undergraduate Research (UR) Day at Queensborough:  Tiffany Cabezas, Monique Fisher, Gabriel Kesten, and Anna Romero.  In this high-impact practice, students independently conduct research under the direction of faculty members.   Drs. Anissa Moody and Larissa Honey in the Department of Social Sciences mentored the students.
