Watch the Live Good Morning San Diego Interview with Issanna Loughman

Issanna Loughman was a member of the Psi Beta chapter at San Diego City College from 2014-2016. She served on the executive committee first as the Vice President and later as the President. While a member she started a free campus psychology tutoring program run by Psi Beta volunteers. She also founded the Hart Project, a community service initiative for Psi Beta members to choose organizations within the community that serve populations in need and helping those populations by providing customized therapeutic art activities. Issanna is most proud of developing a preschool program for toddlers living in a Mexican orphanage called Vida Joven and of her psychological research study Behind the Glitter: Developing a Positive Emotional Response to the Drag Queen and Transgender Culture. Among awards she has earned include the 2016 California New Century Scholar, 2016 All-USA Academic Team, and the State Senate Certificate of Achievement. She has transferred to the University of California at San Diego as a CASP Scholar with a full scholarship to pursue a BS in Clinical Psychology. She credits this achievement and her other awards to being part of Psi Beta and the experiences she shared with her chapter. Her career goal is to become a Child Clinical Psychologist and provide therapy to children in psychiatric care and to conduct research to support change in treatment policy.
