Nathan DeWall Speaks on Self-Regulation Research

On April 12th, Dr. Nathan DeWall, professor of social psychology at the University of Kentucky, spoke to psychology and 7 DeWall_SpeakingPsi Beta students in the Performing Arts Center at Irvine Valley College. DeWall talked about his fascinating research on self-control and self-regulation, and what we can do to strengthen these valuable and necessary resources to help achieve academic, relationship, and personal success. He earned a master’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, and a master’s and a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Florida State University. Winner of the Outstanding Teacher Award from the University of Kentucky’s College of Arts and Science, Professor DeWall was named a “rising star” in psychological research by the Association for Psychological Science. Professor DeWall is a sought-after speaker who has lectured throughout the U.S as well as in China, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and Australia. He’s been featured in the national media, including The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Harvard Business Review, Time, Atlantic Monthly, and NPR. He is also coauthor, with David Myers, of the Psychology textbook series, which reaches several million students.

Dr. DeWall’s April 12th talk was videotaped and he’s given us permission to make the recording available on the Psi Beta website. The recording will be posted as soon as editing is completed.
