National Research Project Currently Underway!

One of the components of Psi Beta’s mission is providing our chapters with an opportunity to engage in research and develop empirical skills. Research is key to better understanding psychological science, therefore Psi Beta provides our members the experiential learning of conducting scientific inquiry at their local institution and develop marketable skills.

Chapters, new or present, are encouraged to collaborate by collecting data, and moreover to submit abstracts (optional) to their respective regional conference and the annual APA convention. As a reminder, Psi Beta offers regional research awards and national research awards (APA) for those who are interested in submitting applications.

This year the national research project is investigating interpersonal communication and several measures of workplace skills self-efficacy. The project overview provides chapters with a primary hypothesis (although chapters and students are encouraged to develop and test individual hypotheses!), references for the literature review, IRB approval (especially for those chapters at institutions without an IRB), scripts, scales, and more! All you need to conduct research for the first time or recurring participating chapters can be found by clicking here. If you need further assistance, please contact Liza Veliz, Chair of the National Research Project, at

We look forward to your collaboration!
