Psi Beta At EPA, Boston, 2014

The Eastern Psychological Association convened its 85th Annual Meeting in Boston, on March 13-16, 2014. Psi Beta was represented at the Convention in four Sessions.

Psi Beta Honorary Member Bernardo Carducci, PhD represented Psi Beta as a keynote speaker. He addressed the audience with “Ask not what psychology degree can do for you, but ask what you can do with your psychology degree: A call to Psi Beta through the promotion of social interest.” Dr. Carducci’s talk was received with warmth by the audience.

Dr. Samvel Jeshmaridian of Psi Beta and Dr. Uwe P. Gielen of APA Division 52 gave a talk on Lev S. Vygotsky, the guru of the Russian Psychology at the Symposium on “Psychology in Russia: Past and Future Trends.” It was one of five presentations at the Symposium which was organized and chaired by Dr. Harold Takooshian of APA Division 52 and Dr. Deborah Harris O’Brien of Psi Chi.

A Skype Session was the good news of the Conference. Psi Beta as a sister organization with Psi Chi took active participation in organizing and conducting the Skype Session with Moscow Psi Chi students and the faculty of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. At the Skype session, social psychological and organizational questions were discussed targeting dialogue and mutual understanding.

Psi Beta Eastern Vice President Samvel Jeshmaridian, PhD organized and chaired the Session on “Psychology around the world” which had four presentations on cross-cultural and international psychology in Cyprus, Ireland, South Korea, and Russia.
