Psi Beta Behavioral Research Conference Participation

On Sunday, 28 October 2013 the 25th Greater New York Conference on Behavioral Research took place at St. Francis College, Brooklyn. The theme of the Conference was “Scientific Reflections: Psychology as a Mirror of Society and the Self.” The Conference include four keynote speakers and 16 Panels. Over 30 students from five states talked at the conference, three of them were Psi Beta students from TCI Technology College, New York. A Psi Beta Panel titled Old Age: Society and Personality traced the field of Gerontology. Gladys Weinberg presented her study of a baby boomer family from an ethnic perspective. Maria Diaz presented a statistical research on elderly financial abuse.  Jennifer Vazquez analyzed stereotyping as related to aging.

The conference included an innovative event!  For the first time, Skype was used to bring together a Russian Psi Chi chapter with American Psi Chi and Psi Beta chapters. Students of two powerful nations warmly talked with each other and explored possibilities for student exchanges and new ways of developing professional ties in the field of Psychology.
