Spring Greetings from Melanie Arpaio, Psi Beta President

Wow, what an exciting few months it has been! As we prepare for Psi Beta’s first official presence at the Association for Psychological Science (APS) Conference this May in San Francisco, we’ve had some really positive interactions with that official body.

For the first time, we are happy to offer student scholarships to attend APS with our National Council members. A scholarship competition was held, and we are proud to announce our winners, who were chosen based on their scholarship, leadership, and research skills. Please join me in congratulating these Psi Beta members: Sophie Tanaka, Heather Smyth, Den Marcelo, Mark Arlia, Alexandra Gomez, Tessa Kruger, Linda O’Gorman, Michael Colarusso, Ashley Magers, Lauren Fennimore, and Krystal Lira.

We have a terrific line-up at APS, including our annual meeting with our counterparts at Psi Chi. We continue to work to build bridges with other constituents within our profession. Of course our Summer Newsletter will have all the details about the conference. We do hope to see many Psi Beta chapter advisors at APS!

We’re off to a record-breaking year for new chapters, and will soon be able to say the same about new members. Keep up the good work. Remember our National Council VP’s are here to offer suggestions for recruitment of new members and for memorable induction ceremonies. Also, don’t forget the incentives for helping other chapters open or come out of inactive status. Enjoy the rest of your semester, and please keep in touch so we know what’s on your mind.

Looking Forward,
Melanie Arpaio, MA
President, Psi Beta National Council
