The President’s Message

Dear Psi Beta Members and Advisors,

Greetings from the Psi Beta National Council, and welcome back to the fall term. I hope everyone had a relaxing and rejuvenating summer. I am honored to be president of the Psi Beta National Council for this academic year. I was reflecting over my Psi Beta experiences as I sat to draft this letter and I realized that I have been a faculty advisor to my Psi Beta chapter for 6 years. Looking back on our chapter history, we have had great active years with huge inductions and weekly activities, and we have had slower years where we have been fortunate to convene once a month and lucky to get the required 10 students to remain an active status club on our campus. Regardless of the circumstances, each year was memorable, each student group special, and every year brought unique experiences and learning opportunities, both for the chapter members and for me. Being part of Psi Beta is always a good thing!

As we begin this new year, I would like to encourage you to get involved in your Psi Beta chapter. The fellowship, scholarship, and leadership opportunities abound, both at the chapter level and the national level. Research paper awards, individual and chapter service project awards, faculty advisor awards, Building Bonds award, and chapter excellence awards are just some of the awards you and your chapter may be eligible for with your active participation in your Psi Beta chapter. Check out the Awards tab on the Psi Beta website to explore the criteria and pick up an application for these awards. Nominating your advisor would be a wonderful way to recognize them for all of their hard work. Garnering an individual award would look great on your transfer application. And let’s face it, being involved in the chapter, campus, and community is fun. Let’s make this your most active year ever!

Another exciting development to be announced soon is the availability of chapter collaboration grants and individual transfer scholarships so stay tuned for the details. The grants will provide a great opportunity to apply for seed money for a collaboration activity between Psi Beta and Psi Chi chapters. And scholarships: Need I say more?

It is a great year to be a Psi Beta member!

I wish you the best of luck in the upcoming year and I am looking forward to hearing about your chapter endeavors. Let’s get started!
