Second Call – New Criteria! Apply Now for a Conference Scholarship! Deadline February 28


What: The 26th Annual Association for Psychological Science (APS) Convention.
When: Thursday, May 22 – Sunday, May 25, 2014
Where: Hilton San Francisco Union Square, San Francisco

In partnership with APS, Psi Beta is pleased to offer a limited number of conference attendance scholarships to Psi Beta students!!! Selected Psi Beta students will receive anticipated funding of up to $800 maximum depending on travel distance to the conference.  Funding must be used to attend the APS conference. APS has generously agreed to waive conference registration for all winners, and to provide each winner one year free student membership in APS!!!

All applicants must:

  1. Be a member of Psi Beta
  2. Be an active participant in their Psi Beta chapter
  3. Be currently enrolled in community college classes
  4. Currently have a GPA equal to or better than the Psi Beta minimum standard of 3.25
  5. Have your Chapter Advisor email a letter of recommendation to no later than the application deadline of February 28, 2014
  6. If chosen to receive a scholarship, agree to attend the conference and submit a report to Psi Beta within two weeks of the conference conclusion. This report will tell about your conference experience, including sessions attended, participation in the poster session, and why you are glad you were chosen to participate in this opportunity.

Successful applicants will be chosen based on a combination of the following accomplishments:

  1. Service to chapter, including but not limited to service learning projects
  2. Demonstrated chapter, college, and/or community leadership
  3. Participation in psychological research that includes data analysis, culminating in an APA-style poster or paper

The strict deadline for applications is February 28, 2014! Regional representation will be a factor in the judging, since we hope to have representation from all five Psi Beta regions. Psi Beta’s National Council will review and judge all applications, notifying the winning students on or before March 7, 2014.
