Southwestern Psychological Association’s Annual Convention… See you at Frisco 2020!

Deadlines are fast approaching for the upcoming Southwestern Psychological Association’s (SWPA) Annual Convention next April 3-5, 2020 in Frisco, TX. For many new chapters, SWPA is an opportunity to learn about psychology’s scientific, professional and educational facets. At its annual meeting, SWPA offers paper, poster, continuing education sessions, workshops, symposia, and invited talks. Students are welcomed and treated as active and valued participants in the discipline, and are able to network with other professionals, faculty, and students including other Psi Beta and Psi Chi Chapters.

The Psi Chi/Psi Beta Chapter Exchange at SWPA is becoming increasingly popular with its insightful presentations on topics that are relevant and valuable to students and chapters alike. Students remark that the exchange provides them with a gateway to network with other faculty and students, way to gain insight into other student’s experiences at their respective institutions and programs, and meet other honor students.

We encourage all Psi Beta chapters to consider submitting their work to SWPA and representing the Southwestern Psi Beta chapters. If you are submitting a poster, paper, or talk, keep in mind that Psi Beta offers a regional award for student research and a regional award for  outstanding faculty advisor. More information regarding the submission guidelines for these regional awards at SWPA will be sent in an email to all regional advisors next month. Stay tuned!

For more information about Psi Beta’a activities and to RSVP your chapter attending SWPA, you may contact Liza Veliz, SW Vice President of Psi Beta at lveliz@southtexascollege.edu
