Southeastern Psychological Association Regional Conference – 69th Annual Meeting

Southeastern Psychological Association Regional Conference – 69th Annual Meeting

By Lora Vasiliauskas

Psi Beta National Council Vice President for the Southeastern Region

The 2023 Southeastern Psychology Association Regional Conference is taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana April 5th through 8th. The program is full of topics that will interest Psi Beta and community college students and faculty. There are opportunities to learn more about APA’s Introductory Psychology initiative, learn about activities to help keep students engaged in psychology courses, tips for students planning on attending graduate school and  building their resumes, as well as opportunities to engage with others presenting their research and with those involved in Psi Chi.

This year Psi Beta is proud to sponsor two invited address sessions.  Sean Ransom  (LSU Behavioral Health Center)  will present Bearing the Crunch: Successful Use of Hypnosis and Cognitive Therapy to Treat ‘Misophonia’ (the Rage Induced When Hearing People Eat), and Noland White (Georgia College & State University) will present Research on Adult ADHD: Applications for College Students.  Additionally, a Psi Beta past national council president (Kathleen Hughes), current president (Todd Joseph) and current Southeastern VP (Lora Vasiliauskas) will present and moderate a session entitled Teaching at the Community college: Ideas and Networking.

Many sessions that will be of interest to Psi Beta and psychology students, advisors, and faculty, but I will highlight a few Psi Beta, STP, Teaching of Psychology and Psi Chi sessions here:
