April 27 – 30th 2017

Advisors and students, come and join us in Sacramento, California for the Western Psychological Association’s 97th annual convention, April 27 – 30th, 2017. There are wonderful opportunities for you to hear cutting edge research, attend film presentations, network during poster presentations, and engage in professional and career development. There will be a student poster session and a chapter exchange scheduled – details will be emailed to Psi Beta advisors. The student poster session is a great opportunity for students to showcase their work (i.e., theoretical paper, experimental and non-experimental research, service learning projects) in a professional setting.

Please go to http://westernpsych.org/wpa-convention-student-guide/ for all the convention details, including a student guide to the convention, programming, how to prepare a poster presentation, and a letter of support for students who need to show the importance of attending to employers, families etc.

The Psi Beta poster submission application for WPA is due on 1/20/17. I strongly encourage you to get the word out to interested students as this is a wonderful opportunity for undergraduate students to experience life as a professional psychologist and provides them with amazing networking opportunities. Although it can seem cost prohibitive, many students attend this conference and come up with creative ways to fundraise (using persuasion techniques to increase the success of bake sale, workshops, carwash, asking businesses or your college to match funds, and even crowd source funding like kickstarter.com). We look forward to seeing you in Sacramento in 2017!
